The 2015 Honda CR-V recently came in first place in the Cars.com/USA Today/MotorWeek Compact SUV Challenge, demonstrating why the CR-V continues to be America’s most popular SUV. The panel of experts and a real-world family chose the CR-V over six of its closest competitors.
To qualify for the competition, each compact SUV had to have a vehicle cost of less than $28,000 and achieve a fuel economy rating of at least 26mpg for EPA combined city and highway. Scores were awarded in a variety of categories, such as comfort, space, ease of installing a car seat and real-world fuel economy.
In the compact SUV segment there is now more competition than ever, and the CR-V remains at the top with its modern styling, comfortable and spacious interior, great fuel economy and advanced safety and technology features. The Honda CR-V also offers excellent visibility and rewarding handling, especially when equipped with the available all-wheel drive system.
The judges of the competition were surprised at how many features you get for your money with the CR-V, such as a sunroof, rear A/C vents, heated seats, LED lighting and all-wheel drive. The easy-to-fold seats were among the favorite features tested, as they make loading cargo into the CR-V so much easier.
A 2.4-liter, 185 hp four-cylinder i-VTEC engine powers the 2015 CR-V, and its Continuously Variable Transmission impressed the judges with its smoothness. With mpg ratings of 27 city and 34 highway, the CR-V is also one of the most efficient compact SUVs you can buy.
The 2015 Honda CR-V also won Motor Trend’s SUV of the Year, is one of Kelley Blue Book’s Best Family Cars for 2015 and is an IIHS Top Safety Pick +. If you want to get more information about the CR-V, check out our online inventory at Prime Honda near Boston, MA.
