The Honda Accord was named to the Car and Driver magazine 10Best Cars in America for a record 30th time this year, more than any other vehicle in the award’s 32-year history. The Accord is also the only high-volume production car to win the award year after year, according to Car and Driver.
Since its introduction in 1976, the Accord has been a hit in the United States. Total U.S. sales now reach over 12.5 million units, with more than 10.5 million of those Accords built at Honda’s Marysville, Ohio plant which opened in 1982.
“Do something special once, you might be called lucky. Do something special twice, you start to build some credibility. Do something special 30 times, like the 10Best Honda Accord, and you’ve accomplished something truly extraordinary,” said Jeff Conrad, senior vice president and general manager of American Honda Motor Co, Inc.
Buyers in Boston continue to return to the Accord, thanks to its excellent fuel efficiency, safety, reliability and fun-to-drive qualities. According to IHS Automotive new retail vehicle registration data, the Accord has been the most popular car in America in 2013, 2014 and so far in 2015.
The 2016 Honda Accord received a number of updates, including a more refined design, increased chassis and body rigidity, new larger wheels and the Honda Sensing suite of driver assistance features. The new Accord also is the first Honda model to have compatibility with both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
Additional new premium features available on the Accord include LED exterior lighting, remote engine start, front and rear parking sensors, rear seat heaters and rain sensing wipers.
